UUA AND COMMUNITY SERVICE

 

 2017 January-March I was on sabbatical; PMWD UUMA Chapter Retreat; People's Institute Training. In addition, I have preached, given the Charge to the Minister, and given a Blessing to colleagues at installations. I have also attended colleague's installation and ordinations all over Washington and Oregon. I participate in local clergy clusters as well as online groups. After 35 years, I have the sense that I  actually do know what I am doing!

2016 PNWD District Assembly presenter on Worship; trained as a UUMA Mentor for newly fellowshipped clergy; PNWD UUMA Chapter Retreat; worked with UU students at Seattle University as the worship chaplain; hosted Eastside UU picnic for three congregations; chaplain PNWD Youth CON; participant six week webinar “Ministry in the Public Square.”

2015 Attended Seminary for a Day; hired by PNWD to consult with Shoreline UU Church; attended UUMA Institute focus on Preaching, Beyond Sunday School Workshop; Staff Russell Lockwood Leadership School teaching "Worship;"  attended Professional Days and General Assembly in Portland; worked with UU students at Seattle University as the worship chaplain; hired by PNWD to do the start-up for the minister and the Wenatchee Congregation; PNWD UUMA Chapter Retreat- elected as Program Chair; hired by PNWD to do the start-up for the Fairbanks minister and congregation; Pulpit Exchange with minister from Whidbey Island Congregation; co-facilitated a Webinar series on Lay Pastoral Care.

2014 Staff of Russell Lockwood Leadership School teaching "Worship; hired by PNWD to consult with West Hills UU Church, Portland; PNWD UUMA Clergy Retreat; Facilitated Developmental Model of Intercultural Sensitivity training for MDD lay leaders.

2013 UUMA Center Institute focus on Multiculturalism; PNWD District Assembly, General Assembly Phoenix- Peace Keeper; UUMA "Beyond the Call: Preaching and Liturgical Arts( 2 year program), 21st Century Faith Formation Workshop; UUMA PNWD Chapter Retreat; Regional Assembly- provided worship for clergy, presenter at workshop on Class; attended Ministry Days and General Assembly, Louisville.

2012 Testified before the Legislature in support of Marriage Equality; attended Seminary for a Day; participated in a vigil at the Tacoma Detention Center; UUMA Training to be a facilitator for Developmental Model of Intercultural Sensitivity; attended UU Addictions Ministry and Recovery Workshop;PNWD UUMA Chapter Retreat.

2011 PNWD District Assembly; UUMA Center Institute focus on "Intercultural Competency;" attended local Clergy Clusters, PNWD Chapter Retreat- elected to Ethics Committee.

2010 Cottage Lake Interfaith; PNWD UUMA Chapter Retreat; Started a GBLTQI support group at the Church called "Queerios;" attended local clergy clusters.

2009 President Gallatin Valley Interfaith Association; spoke in a WAMI (Washington, Alaska, Montana, Idaho medical school) class on GBLTQI medical issues; spoke in Montana State University classes; training on Spirituality for Montana State University counseling center staff; took part in the MDD Youth Summit; Keynote Speaker for Celebrating Women, a state wide women's conference.

2008 Spoke in a WAMI (Washington, Alaska, Montana, Idaho medical school) class on GBLTQI medical issues; President Gallatin Valley Interfaith Association; attended MDD district and ministerial meetings; presenter at a “Building the Beloved Community” workshop at the MDD district meeting; appointed to the MDD Youth and Young Adult Task Force; asked to do the blessing at the opening of The Birth Center; spoke in Montana State University classes; did a training for the Montana State University counseling center staff on Spirituality.

2007 Asked by MADD to create and conduct a community wide memorial service for those killed by drunk drivers; member of the Gallatin Valley Interfaith Association; Vice President Gallatin Valley Human Rights Task Force; Vice President of the Governor’s AIDS Advisory Council; staff at the MDD Russell Lockwood Leadership School teaching Religious Heritage and Values; did a training for the Montana State University Counseling Center staff on GBLTQI issues; attended MDD district and ministerial meetings; preached in the Cape Town, South Africa church; participated in the community wide and Humane Society Blessing of the Animals; spoke in a WAMI (Washington, Alaska, Montana, Idaho medical school) class on GBLTQI medical issues; Secretary MDD Minister’s Association.

2006 Elected vice president of the Governor’s AIDS Advisory Council; became active in Family Promise, a program serving homeless families; spoke in a WAMI (Washington, Alaska, Montana, Idaho medical school) class on GBLTQI medical issues; spoke in Montana State University classes; staff at the MDD Russell Lockwood Leadership School teaching Religious Heritage and Values; helped start local PFLAG chapter; staff and presenter for a Montana-wide young gay men’s retreat; member of the MDD’s District planning committee; gave the invocation at the annual Habitat for Humanities Women Build week; member of the Gallatin Valley Interfaith Association; Vice President Gallatin Valley Human Rights Task Force; attended a Healthy Congregations workshop and a Raising the Roof workshop; Secretary MDD Minister’s Association; preacher Sunday morning service at MDD District Meeting.

2005 Appointed to the Governor’s AIDS Advisory Council; took youth to a CON and served as the chaplain for the CON; elected Vice President Gallatin Valley Human Rights Task Force; spoke in Montana State University classes; Speaker for National Coming Out Day at Montana State University; awarded the Gallatin Valley’s “Swimming Upstream Award” for work on drug and alcohol awareness and prevention; staff and presenter for a Montana-wide young gay men’s retreat; staff at the Mountain Desert District’s Russell Lockwood Leadership School; co-leader of an adult trip to Transylvania; attended and led worship at the annual gathering of Montana UU’s; attended the MDD district and ministerial meetings; member of the Gallatin Valley Interfaith Association; Secretary MDD Minister’s Association; volunteered for Habitat for Humanity.

2004 Preached at other fellowships in Montana; co-led a Youth Conference in the Khasi Hills, India with members of the International Council of Unitarians and Unitarian Universalists; attended and led worship at the annual gathering of Montana UU’s; delivered an opening prayer for the Bioneers Conference; became active in the community response to the presence of a White Supremacy group in the community; trained peacekeepers for a march and rally in response to the White Supremacy group; became a member of the Gallatin Valley Human Rights Task Force; spoke in numerous classes at Montana State University; staff and presenter for a Montana-wide young gay men’s retreat, member of the Gallatin Valley Interfaith Association; volunteered for Habitat for Humanity; workshop presenter at MDD District Conference.

2003 Preached at all of the fellowships in Montana: Billings, Helena, Kalispell, Missoula; member of the Gallatin Valley Interfaith Association.
